Fast and Precise - LightSpeed 64-Slice VCT ScannerThink of your body as a house.
How does 64-slice VCT work? The test combines rapid x-ray scanning with multiple computed tomography (CT) to produce the most detailed images of the heart, lungs, brain, and other organs without surgery. A computer assembles the x ray 'slices' into an image of the organ that reveals its complete structure. Depending on the organ or area being scanned, the patient may receive an injection of contrast dye to highlight the blood vessels of the area and obtain a better image. What does this mean For You?Precision: The Volume Computed Tomography (VCT) or 64-slice scanner is an advanced imaging system that produces highly detailed images of internal body parts, which can be used to create 3D images. These 3D images are in such high resolution that they will greatly help your health care provider better diagnose some hard-to-detect conditions. By having a CT scan performed, your physician will obtain all the detailed information necessary, while you experience a very fast and comfortable exam. Faster and Detailed Diagnosis: The VCT scanner requires less time for breath-holds, giving you less overall stress. Because the exam is faster than one using regular CT scanners, the images will be less affected by motion, facilitating more rapid results and if necessary, an early start of treatment. Comfort: The staff at Florida Hospital Imaging Services is highly trained and engaged to provide compassionate and comprehensive care to our patients. We offer a comfortable experience combined with the highest health care standards for the best results. What Can 64-slice VCT detect? The state-of-the-art VCT imaging system can be used to diagnose common and hard-to-detect health problems in areas such as:
Limitations:CT scans involve radiation exposure, a particular concern for children. Those who are overweight or have stents or extensive calcium deposits won't generate useful images, since fat can distort x-rays and the beams cannot penetrate metal or calcium. How do I schedule a VCT Scan?Consult with your physician about Florida Hospital's new 64-slice VCT scanners. If your doctor determines that VCT can help with your diagnosis, schedule an appointment at Florida Hospital Orlando calling, 407/303-5884, or at Celebration Health by calling 407/303-4111. Where do I go?Florida Hospital has nine convenient locations that provide comprehensive services for your imaging needs. Florida Hospital Orlando and Celebration Health have the new 64-slice VCT scanners.
